The club hosts monthly training days and hosts two events a year. The
test events are
governed by the UKC Hunt Test and Upland Hunt rules. We hold two
complete tests each weekend, giving you two chances to pass. Ribbons
are awarded at the conclusion of the test.
Pass or Fail, run the complete test! Unless you are
disqualified for "unsafe gun handling", you run the entire test. No more getting knocked out after the first bird. You paid
for it, you run it.
Tests are designed to simulate real hunting scenarios.
Hunting attire is required. Handlers should know some gun
safety at the Started level, and are expected to handle, load, fire, unload,
and secure a shot gun at the Seasoned and Finished levels. To help you
feel comfortable with these rules, the club holds a training day every
month, where we use flingers, blinds, and guns, to help you learn the skills
you may need.
REGISTERING FOR OUR EVENTS ARE EASY! You can mail
the
form in, or simply bring it to the test and register the day of!
Training days are scheduled at local fields. The
club brings its trailer of equipment so we can setup and use everything.
We use bumper, dead birds, and blinds, guns, and popper ammunition.
If you are unfamiliar with the use of a shot gun, this is a great time
to start to familiarize yourself with the club guns.
The cost is a
nominal $5 per dog and also gets you a hot dog lunch. Check the
calendar below for the next training day and location.
