Whistling Wings Hunting and Retriever Club
JANUARY 2008
I am most pleased
to announce that this evening, December 9,at our home
the first Oregon HRC club is submitting its application for formal
acceptance to the national office. We have named our club "Dusky HRC".
A
Dusky is a protected goose found only in Oregon--so I have been told. The
officers are:
President: Rich Galetti
Vice President: Paul Cantrell
Secretary: Tracy Calhoun
Treasurer: TBA
Our first training will l be January 12th and I am scheduling a judge's
seminar on Feb 17 pending a scheduling ok from Tim Gibson. This has been a
long time coming but our initial group of 14 enthusiastically voted to
become an HRC club and work together to make HRC happen for Oregon. We
will discuss the date for a preliminary hunt once scheduling conflicts
are resolved and we have a little history behind us. I feel so positive
about the commitment and the talent of the founding members and I know the
future of Dusky HRC is in great hands. Initial members in no particular
order are:
Lou and Jill Stefley
Paul Contrel
Rich and Linda Galetti
Robin Whaley
Tracy and Tellus Calhoon
Sharon Wright
Butch Higgens
David and Elizabeth Cousineau
R David Cousineau

JANUARY 2007
Wishing
you Happy Holidays
And
Successful
Hunting Trips
We want to thank
all our wonderful members and participants for always stepping in to
help at our events. Without you this club would not be able to do the
things we do. We also want to say how disappointed we are that we were
cheated out of our last training day of 2006 because of flooding.
Unfortunately, we will not have any training days in November or
December. It is just too hectic. That said, our next training day will
be January 14, 2007, at a place yet to be decided.
Our annual
members and friends meeting and silent auction is on the calendar for
Saturday night, January 20, 2007 starting at 5:30 at Joan and
Bob Fetty’s in the training building. Our event will be catered by Trish
Rohner, who provided the delicious meals at last years’ Hunts. The cost
is $5.00 per person. RSVP to either Joan at 425-788-6350 or
Cindy at 425-418-7409 as soon as you know that you will be able to
attend. Please try to bring a silent auction item as well. It need not
be dog related. Remember “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.
The auction is our largest fund raiser of the year. We are planning a
small program at the meeting that will cover what the club goals are for
the future and the HRC’s rule changes for the upcoming year.
Dinner Menu
Tiger Prawn Shrimp with Cocktail

Crustini - Bread, Olive Oil, Garlic, Tomato, Basil (or Tapinata) w/
Garlic Goat Cheese
Thai Chicken Noodles

Chocolate Fudge Brownies
We will also
have an election for Club officers. This year we have a couple of
positions open so if you can make a monthly commitment for an evening
board meeting and enjoy planning events, we need you! If you are
interested please contact a current board member.
We have a
tentative date for our spring hunt test April 21 and 22, 2007, it will
be held at Carlson’s. We have a rough outline of judges. If all works
out you will be able to pick up a premium at the January 20th
annual meeting.
On the Friday
before the Hunt, April 20, the club will be hosting an HRC handlers and
Judge’s seminar in the Fetty’s Training Building. The rules for all
levels will be thoroughly reviewed and recent rule changes discussed.
This seminar is required for all HRC judges every 2 years. If you are
an HRC Judge, are you up to date? All participants in our Hunts are
encouraged to attend the seminar. More details will be available early
in 2007. We hope to see you there.
Sincerely
Whistling
